This styled wedding shoot was a dreamy shoot to be a part of!
Jessica with Lallier Event Design dreamed this gorgeousness up and allowed me to have freedom with the stationery (YAY!!). The shoot took place at McGill Rose Garden and the garden itself was the main inspiration from where the whole Stationery look came from. Jessica had a great vision as to what elements she wanted to incorporate and from there, this is what was dreamed up!

I met up at the initial consult with the sweetest, most soft-spoken southern lady. She begins to tell me all about her handsome hubby, how he’s turning 40 this year …. and she would love to throw him a surprise party but she’s not quite sure what the “theme” should be … or if there should be one. so …. as I would normally do, I ask about the person … what’s he like? what are his favorite hobbies? …. etc.
WELL …. the answers surprised me … to say the least.
Here are just a few:
he likes ‘lil wayne AND pavarotti
he likes hermes (and he owns hermes pieces)
he’s a HUGE social butterfly (i.e. could be the honorary mayor of charlotte)
HUGE panther fan
had a pet tarantula and a pet snake
loves squirrel hunting
double lettered in fencing and cheerleading
I will keep the rest of his “likes” under wraps – but you get that this guy is a CHARACTER, right?!?
I totally had my work cut out for me. The brainstorming commenced.
All I could think of is – this guy is someone EVERYONE would love knowing … and once they knew him, they probably loved him, loved being around him, loved hanging out with him, loved his infectious character …. so I blurted out the most random idea for an invitation and the whole event took on a life of it’s own.
We came up with a fun “fan club” party invitation since he seemed to have a huge friend base … and let’s face it … who wouldn’t want a party like this …. CHECK IT OUT!
The handsome Greg Olsen made an appearance (swoon)
THIS CAKE! Describes all of his likes + passions … served by none other than “Lil-Lil Wayne”.
I will have to admit – this is one of the top 5 weddings I have had the pleasure of working on with a bride. However this one is more special to me because it was the wedding of my sweet cousin, Kayla who’s more like a sister than a cousin to me. She made a simply stunning bride and her groom was pretty handsome that day as well.
We share a special bond in our family . . . and some of you know how close I am to my family – so this was a huge celebration for our family to all be together in the same place for a huge party! Kayla pulled her winter dream wedding together with the help of John Gandy Events of Tallahassee, Florida.
This weekend wedding took place at a gorgeous north Florida plantation and my favorite part of the venue was everyone stayed, celebrated and partied late into the night all on the same property!
I AM GOING TO START OUT WITH MY FAVORITE PHOTO FROM THE WEDDING – Kayla’s Something Blue (and Something Old). My mom and I helped my Grandmother pick out an old blue tie that my Grandfather was notorious for wearing . . . and it still smells like him 13 years later. My sweet Aunt Jan (who’s a talented seamstress) cut out a heart shape from the tie and stitched it in Kayla’s wedding dress. Our Grandfather was an amazing man and this was a PERFECT way to incorporate him into her big day . . . . insert the tears!

I don’t know about you . . . . but I am so happy to see spring today in Charlotte! It might not be the sunniest of days, but I am happy to put the super cold weather behind me! Take a peek at a fun spring inspiration shoot that Olive Paper helped out with! I love these images . . . so fresh, soft and delicate!
